Students are given the opportunity to extend their understanding of language and literature through the study of a diverse range of texts and the application of sophisticated concepts. Students are exposed to a variety of classic and contemporary texts from different cultures. Emphasis is placed on developing critical thinking, analytical and creative skills, as well as shaping language for effect. Participation in the course enables students to become self-motivated learners who work effectively both collaboratively and independently.
The English curriculum is organised into three interrelated strands that support students' growing understanding and use of Standard Australian English.
